Father's Day Fun

Last week, our family came together to celebrate Father's Day. We had a great afternoon visiting and grilling on our new grill. Jimmy was on call and unable to come. His oldest three were out of town, so we missed them too. We are so grateful for the many blessings God has given us!

Something Smells Fishy

Jim, Clay, and Jimmy went fishing last week. I know Jim loves spending time with his grandchildren, and Clay absolutely loves to fish! I couldn't believe the size of these fish though! It all seems a little "fishy" to me!

Jim has also enjoyed fishing with his other grandsons. Time spent with grandchildren is so special, and I know these young boys will treasure these moments forever!

Memorial Day

This Memorial Day, Jim and I were thrilled to have MOST of our family around! Jim grilled on our new grill that our children gave us for Mother's and Father's Day. The food was delicious, but the time spent with family was even more special.

Once again, time well spent with those we love the most!

My Son...the M.D. (the youngest one)

This weekend, Jim and I had the honor of watching our youngest son graduate from medical school. We have always been so proud of our children, and we are blessed to still have opportunities to be proud of their accomplishments. We joined Russ and Megan in Jackson on Wednesday night. The long coat ceremony was Thursday. This is a night when the students receive their official "doctor coats" with their name on them...followed by M.D. This is a very special night. It has come a long way since our oldest graduated in 1994. It was a great night with family and wonderful food. We enjoyed visiting with the Smiths as well. I don't think we have all eaten together since Russ and Megan's rehearsal dinner. What a memorable night we had!

Can you tell how proud we were?

Graduation came early Friday morning! Graduation wasn't until 10:00, but Megan insisted that we leave early to get a good seat. So, we left around 8:30 and arrived in time to get great seats! We were about four rows up and very close to the stage. Jenny's family and Megan's family sat with us. We had a great time watching all of Russ's four years finally pay off as he crossed the stage to receive his diploma and be hooded by Dr. Woodward.

After graduation, we all had lunch at a Japenese steakhouse. Then, we relaxed at Megan and Russ's for cake and gifts. I made a cake before leaving Corinth. I thought it was very appropriate to put an x-ray for radiology! Everyone really enjoyed it I think!

Congratulations Russ! We are so proud of you! We prayed for you for long, but we could have never imagined how proud you would make us! God has done immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine! Ephesians 3:20

Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

My Little Boy is All Grown Up!

Jim and I are on our way to Jackson to watch our youngest son graduate from medical school. I cannot tell you how filled with pride I am! I am incredibly proud of Russ and all his accomplishments! Tomorrow we will join with Jenny and her family and Megan's family for Russ's white coat ceremony. Then, Friday, we will all watch Russ become an official M.D! He has worked so long and hard for this, and I couldn't be happier about this weekend!

Congratulations Russ! We love you so so much!

Stay tuned...there is more to come!

Mother's Day Celebration

Saturday, our families ate together at Catfish Hotel. This was originally planned for Jim's mama, but she was unable to go. Sam, Fred, and Jim's families still planned to eat together. It's not often that all the Johnsons get together, so we enjoyed it thoroughly! Of course, after dinner the children went down to the water to skip rocks. I love watching such young energy!

The children went in together to give Jim and me our Mother's and Father's day gift - a new grill!! I can't wait to try it out when the family gets back together! Thank you so much!

Once again, we loved every minute of our time with family!

Coca Cola Classic 10K

This weekend our entire family was together! It is not often enough that everyone is able to be together at the same time! Russ and Megan came in town for Russ to run the Coke race. Jimmy and his family ran, and Jenny ran too. Everyone arrived before I even woke up and headed downtown to the starting line. Megan took all the little ones who were not running. Will assisted her. I drove down in time for them to finish the race. It was so much fun watching and cheering for my sweet family running to the finish line. Thanks to Jimmy and Russ's cameras, I have some great pictures to share.

After the race, we all went back to the house to enjoy a relaxing and fun afternoon. We nibbled all day while the runners rested, and the kids played. Russ took pictures of the afternoon.

While everyone enjoyed their afternoon, I began preparations for supper. Roan grilled burgers while I prepared the meat and set out the sides. Roan is such a good cook! Thanks Roan!

Easter Egg Hunt 2009

Today, Jim and I traveled to Saltillo for Jimmy and Roan's annual Easter Egg Hunt. We had such a fun time visiting family and friends. Russ and Megan were in town, and we were able to see them also. After eating a hot dog lunch, we watched as the children hunted eggs - totaling 600! I love to watch children at Easter!

Russ's Match Day

Today was Match Day - the day when Russ found out where he would continue his training as a resident. It turned out just the way he wanted! We are all so happy, and I am so proud you can probably see my head getting bigger and bigger as the day goes on. Ha ha!

Russ will complete a preliminary year in internal medicine in Jackson. Then, he and Megan will move to Memphis to complete his radiology residency for four more years. We are so excited to have them closer! Radiology is very competitive. In fact, he earned on of only two spots for his preliminary year. There were six spots available in Memphis, and he earned one! Russ and Megan are so pleased, and their families are too!
